Seeking a highly motivated Ph.D. student who is interested in the use of advanced materials in biomedical applications using additive manufacturing technologies. Fresh graduates from any engineering background are welcome to apply.
Magnesium alloys are increasingly used as new generation biomaterials due to their ability to dissolve into the body fluids after bone regeneration. However, due to the complex structures of bones, it is difficult to manufacture magnesium implants via conventional manufacturing techniques such as casting. This project will study the feasibility of using the additive manufacturing (AM) technique to manufacture magnesium alloys for biomedical applications.
